The Client
Carinho’s Bakery is a fusion of two cultures: Carinho, a Brazilian Portuguese word that cannot be directly translated into English — bringing a unique aspect to the table — and Bakery, which is a part of everyone's life. From that, Carinho Bakery came to bring all things sweet with love to everyone.
My Role
End-to-end Product Designer
Challenge
The biggest challenge I faced was creating a landing page that seamlessly blended fun and professionalism, capturing the essence of our bakery without appearing overly childish. Despite incorporating vibrant colors and playful doodles, my aim was to strike the perfect balance, ensuring that the page exuded charm without overwhelming visitors.
Goals
The idea is to create landing page for a informative website, where the user can know more about the bakery, what they offer, flavor options and how to order them. It’s not meant to be a online store, something that is important to add.
Preparing the ingredients
Design decisions
Before deciding the fundamentals elements for the project, I started working on the wireframe. Having that will allow me prioritize user needs and interactions, ensuring that the final product meets user expectations and is user-friendly.
But before I started drawing, I made a list of content and prioritization of content (so I can decide what comes first, second and so on).
After I had the prioritization of content decided, I was ready to create the wireframe.
Time to bake!
Is designing like baking? I guess it is…
Like baking, preparing the “ingredients” and elements makes the entire process seamless. So I planned the fundamental elements beforehand, following the logo colors and choosing others that would match with it, making it easier to create quickly and consistently throughout the project. It also made it simple to make style changes later on.
Icing time and… Ready!
The Landing Page
I designed a very simple and clear interface, with bright colors — but not too much — so there’s a feeling of fun and happiness, but at the same time professionalism, giving a harmonious balance that fosters a user-friendly experience while instilling a sense of trust and competence.
The results
The entire project was inspired by a friend of mine. She’s also a Brazilian living in U.S, loves baking and wanted to make this a business. I took the opportunity and inspiration to create a baking landing page, and I’m very satisfied with the results. I definitely want to work more on the other pages and be able to offer an entire website to her when she’s ready to make it her official business.
